An Electric Silverado

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV takes inspiration from a more classic approach to electric pickup trucks, while sharing its electric powertrain with the bold GMC Hummer EV. With a design reminiscent of the discontinued Avalanche pickup truck from the early 2000s, the Silverado EV offers a versatile midgate feature that will allow you to fold down the wall between the bed and the cab, providing extra storage space. Equipped with a large battery pack, it boasts an impressive range of up to 724 kilometers per charge. Additionally, its DC fast-charging technology enables a quick boost of 160 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes.

With dual electric motors offering standard all-wheel drive and an impressive power output of up to 754 horsepower, the Silverado EV is ready to tackle any challenge. It boasts a towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of up to 1440 pounds.  Get ready for a new era of electric pickups. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is about to redefine what it means to be a workhorse on wheels.

The Silverado EV Power And Performance

In contrast to the Hummer EV's potential for up to three electric motors, the Silverado EV opts for a two-motor configuration. Nevertheless, this setup ensures impressive acceleration performance, especially in the top-spec trim, where Chevrolet boasts a horsepower rating of up to 754 hp. The base WT trim still delivers a respectable 510 hp. All-wheel drive comes as a standard feature, while the option to add a rear-wheel steering system and an adaptive air suspension enhances the driving experience. Additionally, for those seeking a bold aesthetic, a set of striking 24-inch wheels is available.

The Trail Boss variant of the Silverado EV is expected to offer additional off-road capabilities, including locking differentials, robust all-terrain tires, and other adventure-oriented enhancements to the suspension.

Towing Capacity

The Silverado EV impresses with a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of up to 1440 pounds. Chevrolet has also announced plans to introduce a model with an even higher towing capacity of 20,000 pounds in the future.

A Quick Charge And You're Off

Equipped with General Motors' innovative Ultium battery technology, the Silverado EV can accommodate a battery pack as large as 200-kWh. According to the EPA, the Silverado EV Work Truck variant offers an estimated driving range of 724 kilometers on a full charge. Of course, real-world range may vary, especially when towing. However, the Silverado EV is designed to handle towing tasks with relative ease. The vehicle comes standard with DC fast charging capability, allowing for a quick charge at public DC charging stations. Chevrolet claims that 160 kilometers of range can be added to the battery in just 10 minutes through this fast-charging feature. The EPA has assigned the Silverado EV WT variant fuel economy ratings of 67 MPGe in the city and 59 MPGe on the highway.

Inside The Silverado Cabin

A fully equipped RST model features a fixed glass roof, stylish black-and-white two-tone leather upholstery with red piping, and passenger space similar to that of a regular Silverado crew cab pickup truck. On the other hand, the base 4WT model adopts a more simplistic approach, featuring a plain black plastic interior that may lack visual appeal. However, considering its purpose as a work truck, it prioritizes functionality over luxurious comforts. The easy-to-clean cabin materials will undoubtedly be appreciated by tradesmen. Notably, Chevrolet's designers have replaced the console-mounted shifter with a column-mounted stalk, creating ample space for a substantial storage bin between the dashboard and the middle armrest. Speaking of space, the Silverado EV's cabin offers generous proportions, ensuring ample room for adults to find comfortable seating positions in both rows.

Staying Connected

Across all models, the Silverado EV offers a predominantly digital dashboard, featuring an 11.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.0-inch digital gauge display as standard. Opting for the top-level RST trim provides an even larger 17.0-inch infotainment screen and an 11.0-inch gauge display. Both systems are customizable to suit the driver's preferences. Notably, the climate controls remain conveniently located as simple analog knobs on a slim panel in the lower section of the dashboard, ensuring easy access.
